Saturday morning, our staff arrived downtown Indianapolis to get ready for the half marathon race. While we weren’t walking or running the beloved Mini-Marathon, we had a very important job: hand out chocolate milk to help all athletes Refuel their bodies after they’ve completed a 5k or 13.1 miles.
We had 12,000 pints of ice cold Prairie Farms chocolate milk awaiting our arrival, but first, we walked the 5k!
Around 8:15 am, we were set in place at our booth, ice cold chocolate milk was ready for the participants.
For the next four hours, we had swarms of Mini-Marathon finishers grabbing for the chocolate milk– we couldn’t get it unloaded quickly enough! It never ceases to amaze me how often runners state, “This is why I run the Mini Marathon!” or “This is what I look forward to the whole race!” It’s a pretty humbling experience to be apart of their journey.
(The 1st place finishers from each division drank the chocolate milk, too!)
The weather was beautiful, the tradition was extended, and our American Dairy Association Indiana staff had a great time handing out a product so highly coveted by dedicated athletes!
Cheers to the Month of May!
