INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— The American Dairy Association of Indiana is celebrating National Ice Cream Month by hosting its 26th annual Ice Cream Social from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 10 on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis, directly in front of Hilbert Circle Theatre.

Indiana actually ranks No. 2 in ice cream production across the United States, with Edy’s Grand Ice Cream headquarters located in Fort Wayne. The American Dairy Association of Indiana’s Director of Communications Jenni Browning says, ‘The event highlights a pretty ‘sweet’ union by bringing a taste of Indiana dairy farms right to the center of the city!”

“It’s a great time to break away for a midday treat, meet some local celebrities (and a cow or two), and give back to a phenomenal youth program,” she adds.

All proceeds from sundae sales will benefit Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, a nonprofit whose mission is to inspire girls ages 6-18 to be strong, smart and bold by engaging in empowering programs at local schools and community centers.

As for the sundaes, with a minimum donation of just $3, over 30 celebrities will dish out Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream sundaes topped with the choice of Kroger’s chocolate, strawberry and caramel syrups with select sugar-free options. Other delectable toppings will include Kroger’s jumbo maraschino cherries and sprinkles, Prairie Farm’s whipped cream and Brics Broad Ripple Ice Cream Oreo cookie crumbles.

Other features include face painting, a Kaplan University photo booth, the Pacers Fan Van, Church Brothers Collision Repair/Indiana State Police Foundation robot car “Duke” the Safety Dog, live music and scavenger hunt courtesy of WZPL & 107.9 the Mix, plus Molly and her calves – real live cows from Purdue Dairy Sciences.

Mascots appearing for meet and greets include: American Dairy Association of Indiana’s “Buttercup,” Indiana State Police’s “Trooper Teddy,” Indy Eleven’s “Zeke,” Indy Fuel’s “Nitro the Dragon” and Indiana Soybean Alliance’s “Bennie the Bean.”

Over the past two years, the American Dairy Association of Indiana has raised $15,000+ for Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. The beneficiary alternates every two years.
