On Thursday, June 1st, we celebrated World Milk Day, a specific day chosen back in 2001 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) to celebrate the important contributions of the dairy sector to sustainability, economic development, livelihoods and nutrition!
Pretty exciting, right?
Across the country, different state and regional dairy associations decided to shine light on the wonderful occasion by Passing a Glass of milk to each other via social media. Each state and/or region began the “#PasstheGlass” hashtag bright and early Thursday AM. Every half hour until around 5 pm EST, a glass was passed either by staff, local celebrities or by esteemed dairy farmers!
It was exciting to see the hashtag being used and an even bigger honor to showcase our beloved Indianapolis 500 Milk People who greatly represented Indiana’s dairy farm families.
