This first full week of March marks National School Breakfast Week, a time period we hold dear to our hearts as so much of our mission is about providing great, nutritious products for all students to enjoy. As part of Fuel Up to Play 60, a national partnership between the National Dairy Council and the National Football League, breakfast not only plays an important role in the program, but it is stressed just how critical breakfast is to a student’s overall academic success.
We are fortunate that the Indianapolis Colts are a proud supporter of healthy and active students, as well. The Colts community is made up of charismatic characters like their mascot Blue, the enthusiastic cheer team and hard-working players many young students aspire to become. This brand power lights up an initiative like school breakfast.
On Tuesday, March 6th, we invited our friends from the Colts to join us in Crawfordsville at Nicholson Elementary, a school made up of 400+ second and third grade students. As one of our most active Fuel Up to Play 60 schools in Indiana, Nicholson Elementary not only enrolled half of their school in the program, they enrolled their entire student body! We couldn’t let their dedication go unnoticed!
Alongside Blue, two Colts cheerleaders and our mascot Buttercup, we were joined by Colts Cornerback Quincy Wilson, who stamped kids hands as they built their yogurt parfait, and by our five Dairy Ambassadors, who fielded questions about dairy farming from inquisitive students.
For many of these students, the breakfast event is something they’ll remember for many years to come– how could you ever forget eating breakfast with the Colts?
We’re extremely grateful that Fuel Up to Play 60 has led us to this enriched partnership with the Indianapolis Colts, and what better way to showcase our combined passion than by celebrating student success!
