Vanilla Bean Ice Cream II

Ingredients
 8 cups milk
 3 ½ cups sugar
 2 vanilla beans
 ¾ cup water
 3 packages gelatin
 1 12 oz. can evaporated milk
 1 tsp salt
 2 cups cream
Directions

Combine milk and sugar in a large pan.

Split vanilla beans lengthwise.

Scrape seeds into milk mixture.

Cut pods into large pieces and add to milk. Scald.

Discard vanilla pods.

Dissolve gelatin in cold water.

Stir into milk mixture until well dissolved.

Stir in remaining ingredients. Cool. Freeze.
